Structural Steel & TMT

Structural Steel & TMT

In structural steel and TMT re-rolling mills, OES is an essential quality control tool used at multiple stages of production. Customers rely on spectrometers to verify billet chemistry before rolling, monitor consistency across heats, and ensure that finished products meet IS, ASTM, or customer-specific standards. Once steel has been rolled, correcting chemistry is no longer possible—making accurate, timely analysis absolutely critical.

For TMT and structural steel applications, customers typically focus on elements such as carbon, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulphur, and microalloying elements like vanadium, niobium, and titanium. In many modern specifications, Nitrogen measurement is also required, as it directly influences mechanical properties such as strength, ductility, and ageing behaviour.

What matters most to customers in this segment is confidence—confidence that the instrument can handle high sample volumes, deliver stable results throughout long production shifts, and reliably measure Nitrogen when required. Re-rolling mills often operate under demanding shop-floor conditions, so robustness and repeatability are just as important as analytical capability.

For these reasons, Gold Plus XL is the preferred choices for TMT and structural steel producers, especially when Nitrogen analysis or high throughput is involved. For applications where Nitrogen is not required and alloy scope is more controlled, Gold Plus X provides a strong balance of performance and flexibility.
