Brass & Bronze

Brass & Bronze

Brass and bronze manufacturers use OES to avoid one of the most common and costly problems in copper alloy processing: grade mix-ups. Many brass and bronze grades appear visually similar, yet small chemistry differences can significantly affect machinability, corrosion resistance, and final product performance.

In these applications, customers typically analyse copper, zinc (for brass), tin (for bronze), lead for machinability, and minor alloying or residual elements. The focus is on consistent grade identification and repeatability across batches, especially when multiple grades are processed on the same shop floor.

For basic brass and bronze verification, Silver Plus is often sufficient. As the number of grades increases or tighter chemistry control is required, customers prefer Gold Plus X
